La liste des nominations de la 72e cérémonie des Emmy Awards a été dévoilée 28 juillet. On y compte une flopée d'acteurs, d'actrices et présentateurs LGBT+.
Cette 72e édition des Emmy Awards s'annonce plus queer que jamais ! La série Schitt’s Creek, qui vient de tirer sa révérence après six saisons voit ses quatre comédien.ne.s principaux - Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Dan Levy et Annie Murphy - nominé.e.s dans les catégories "Meilleur acteur" et "Meilleure actrice". Le show, créé par Eugene Levy et Daniel Levy, est également en lice pour le titre de "Meilleure série" comique de l'année.
RuPaul obtient quant à lui sa cinquième nomination consécutive pour le titre de "Meilleur présentateur" pour son RuPaul’s Drag Race (un titre qu'il a gagné ces quatre dernières années). Il fera face à Karamo Brown, Antoni Porowski, Tan France, Bobby Berk et Jonathan Van Ness, les cinq coachs de la télé-réalité Queer Eye, diffusée sur Netflix.
Les drag queens en force
Cette année, les drag queens débarquent en force aux Emmys. L'émission RuPaul’s Drag Race Untucked a quant à elle reçu une nouvelle nomination pour la catégorie "Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program" (littéralement, "le meilleur programme de télé-réalité non structuré"). Egalement présentes dans cette étrange catégorie, les ex-candidates du Drag Race, Bob the Drag Queen, Eureka et Shangela pour leur excellente émission sur HBO We’re Here. A l'annonce de sa nomination, la drag queen Shangela n'a pas plus retenir sa joie:

La drag queen Raven est elle nominée pour la deuxième fois dans la catégorie "Meilleur maquillage contemporain (sans prothèse) pour une variété, une non-fiction ou une émission de télé-réalité".
L'actrice Zendaya est elle aussi pressentie pour son rôle dans l'excellente première saison de la série Euphoria, le teen drama de HBO. Même chose pour Jeremy Pope, le comédien de la série Hollywood, le show de Ryan Murphy pour Netflix. Tout comme ses camarades Jim Parsons et Holland Taylor.

Des ratés
Mais cette liste de nominations, pourtant à rallonge, semble avoir omis quelques talents. Exemple : seul Billy Porter, qui avait marqué l'histoire l'année derniere en devenant le premier homme noir ouvertement gay a gagné le titre de "Meilleur acteur principal", est le seul acteur de la série Pose à être nominé. Alors qu'Indya Moore, Mj Rodriguez ou Dominique Jackson auraient largement méritées d'être distinguées ou en tout cas, nommées tant elles portent la série. C'est ce qui s'appelle un raté !

Parmi les autres talents issus de la communauté LGBTQ+, on peut également citer la comédienne trans Laverne Cox ( pour la dernière saison d'Orange is the New Black), Samira Wiley (The Handmaid’s Tale), Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve), Kate McKinnon (comédienne du Saturday Night Live), Titus Burgess (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. The Reverend), la comédienne Wanda Sykes (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Cherry Jones (Succession) and Andrew Scott (Black Mirror).
Bref, une édition 2020 qui fait la part belle à la diversité. Rendez-vous le 20 septembre pour connaitre le palmarès qui sera dévoilé lors d'une cérémonie présentée par Jimmy Kimmel.
